Summary

The health crisis has caused significant economic and social upheavals. At the heart of this crisis, businesses and entrepreneurs have been strongly impacted by these measures: border closures, shutdown of businesses and stores, forced telecommuting, social distancing, and lockdowns, among others. They have had to deal with numerous challenges and adapt their business practices to ensure their sustainability and growth. The pandemic has acted as an innovation accelerator for SMEs, increasing their reliance on technology.

In collaboration with several ecosystem partners and Julie Bérubé’s research team, the head of the MBA program and associate professor of management in the Department of Administrative Sciences at the Université du Québec en Outaouais, Espace-O has investigated the innovations implemented by organizations during the COVID-19 pandemic to enable them to continue their activities. The main objective of the research project was to describe and understand how innovations were implemented to identify best practices.
