Summary

The COVID-19 pandemic has disrupted all spheres of society. The cultural industries have been severely impacted by this crisis. This presentation presents the results of a study conducted in the Outaouais region with artists and cultural workers regarding the adaptations made to artistic models to ensure the sustainability of these industries in the Outaouais. The challenges faced by the industries were outlined, including the cancellation or postponement of events, problems accessing creative and dissemination spaces, psychological distress, communication issues, loss of contact with audiences, and a loss of the workforce.

Positive outcomes were also highlighted, such as the development of new audiences, the emergence of new creative themes, production gains, and the creation of new grants or expertise. Examples of initiatives in creation, production, dissemination, teaching, and training were also presented. Other initiatives, such as interdisciplinary collaborations, the combination of virtual and in-person elements, and cultural mediation, were discussed in this presentation, which concluded with a reflection on the role of cultural organizations in navigating this crisis.
